Leben
Eigentlich hält der Sänger Privates gern im Hintergrund, will seine Musik für ihn sprechen lassen - gibt durch sie bereits viel aus seinem Inneren preis. Dass er 1980 in Jerusalem geboren wurde, ist für ihn nur eine Randnotiz. „Ich bin zufällig Israeli, so wie Augen zufällig blau sind. Wir trinken aus dem kulturellen Brunnen unserer Historie, aber unsere Musik ist universell”, sagt er. Seine Eltern, beide Diplomaten, nahmen ihn in jungen Jahren mit nach New York und Jamaika, fast seine gesamte Kindheit verbrachte er im Ausland. Die Eltern hatten jene Plattensammlung, die sich in der Musik ihres Sprösslings widerspiegelt. „Anfang der Neunziger liebte ich Nirvana, Soundgarden und Pearl Jam - und fand im Schrank meiner Eltern die Ursprünge dieser Musik. Du hörst also Zeppelin, Hendrix, Joplin. Und dann gehst du weiter zurück und findest Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker und Billie Holiday. Das alles hängt zusammen.“ Zurück in Israel studiert er zunächst Film in Tel Aviv und Jerusalem, wurde schnell zum gefragten Spezialisten für Animation.

Karriere
Als Asaf Avidan & the Mojos machte er mit dem Album The Reckoning auf sich aufmerksam. Die Reaktionen auf das Album waren weites

Avidan war bisher im Vorprogramm zahlreicher bekannter Musiker zu hören, so zum Beispiel für Morrissey in Tel Aviv im Jahr 2008, für Bob Dylan im Ramat-Gan-Stadion im Juni 2011 oder bei einem The-Who-Tribute- und Benefizkonzert in der Carnegie Hall im Jahr 2010.
Im Juli 2011 kündigten die Mojos eine kreative Pause an, um Soloprojekte zu verfolgen. Asaf Avidan tourte, begleitet von der Cellistin Karni Postel, mit einem Akustikprogramm durch Israel, Frankreich und Deutschland.
Ein neues Soloalbum ist für Frühjahr 2013 angekündigt, das in Israel bereits im September 2012 erscheinen soll. veröffentlicht.
Der Titel Weak des Albums The Reckoning ist Teil des Soundtracks zum Film The Tree (2010).
Teil des Liedes Reckoning Song von „Asaf Avidan & the Mojos“ fand als Edit Einsatz in dem Remix One Day des Berliner Musikers und DJs Wankelmut. One Day erfreute sich großer Beliebtheit auf der Internetplattform SoundCloud und bei YouTube und konnte sich schließlich im Sommer 2012 auch in den deutschen Verkaufscharts bis auf Platz 1 durchsetzen. Es ist erst der zweite Nr. 1-Hit eines israelischen Künstlers nach Ofra Haza im August 1988. Im August 2012 erfolgt ein Re-Release des Albums The Reckoning, das als zusätzlichen Track den Remix enthält.

Internationale Aufmerksamkeit
Asafs sirenenartige, zuweilen androgyne Stimme bleibt neben dem Irokesenschnitt Erkennungsmerkmal des Sängers, der trotz seiner großen Erfolge zu Hause ohne Starallüren daherkommt. Sie lässt aufhorchen - verleiht den ohnehin emotionalen Texten des Sängers eine zusätzliche Dramatik und Intensität. „Wenn Asaf zu singen beginnt, dann reiben sich die Zuschauer ungläubig die Augen - es entsteht eine Magie, welche während des gesamten Auftritts anhält und die Seele eines jeden Zuschauers zutiefst berührt“, resümiert die Presse. Zu der gehören inzwischen auch so renommierte Blätter wie der Rolling Stone oder ARTE TV. Längst haben sich die energetischen Live-Shows des Sängers herumgesprochen, denn „Asaf Avidan & The Mojos überstrahlen jedes Genre“ (Pennyblack, UK). Vor allem in Frankreich haben sie sich inzwischen eine treue Fangemeinde erspielt und traten letztes Jahr zur Abschlussfeier der renommierten Filmfestspiele in Cannes auf. Ihr Song „Weak“ vom Debütalbum „The Reckoning“ findet sich auf dem Soundtrack des Films „The Tree“ von Julie Bertucelli mit Charlotte Gainsbourg in der Hauptrolle. Aber auch das Taubertal-Festival, der WDR Rockpalast, das Paleo Festival, die New Yorker Carnegie Hall oder das größte Festival Chinas standen auf dem Tourplan der Band. Morrissey wählte Asaf Avidan als special guest für sein Israelkonzert im Sommer 2008, da auch er von den musikalischen Qualitäten des Sängers beeindruckt war.
„Poor Boy / Lucky Man“
Während die Lieder auf Asafs Solo-Debüt-EP „Now That You're Leaving“ (2006) noch ganz unmissverständlich das Ende einer Liebesbeziehung zum Thema gehabt hatte und das Erstlingswerk mit The Mojos, eine Lebensphase mit diversen Fällen von Liebeskummer beschreibt, versuchte Asaf diesmal, sich selbst besser kennen zu lernen. „Das ganze Konzept von „Poor Boy / Lucky Man“ ist die Darstellung einer emotional zurückgebliebenen Person durch verschiedene Charaktere, die sie symbolisieren“, sagt Avidan über das bereits Ende 2009 in Israel erschienene Album. So begegnen wir, einem Clown, dem Teufel und einem Geist. Avidan, dessen Songs stets sein Innerstes nach außen kehren, ergründet auf dem neuen Album jenen Menschen, der ihm so fremd ist wie sonst keiner: Er selbst. „Die Frau, der Berg, Ich, der Geliebte - das sind alles unterschiedliche Facetten meiner Persönlichkeit”, sagt Avidan. „Ich ist ein kleines Wort für eine große Sache. Auf Englisch gibt es zum Glück kein Geschlecht, wie im Hebräischen oder im Deutschen, deswegen rede ich oft aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven mit mir selbst.” Metaphern ermöglichen dem Zuhörer ganz unterschiedliche und eigene Interpretationen - schaffen Bilder, die musikalisch unterstrichen werden. „Ich kann sagen, mir geht es schlecht und du wirst das verstehen. Aber wenn ich sage, dass mir die Eingeweide rausgerissen wurden, auf den Boden geworfen und dass ein Elefant darauf trat, verstehst du nicht nur, sondern fühlst, was ich fühle.” Auch hier liegt eines der großen Talente von Avidan.
Boy / Lucky Man” handelt vom Akzeptieren der Tatsache, dass es neben den hellen und freundlichen Seiten auch finstere Winkel in der eigenen Persönlichkeit gibt. Es beschreibt die Einsicht, dass es kein absolutes Gut und Böse gibt. Dass das Leben als Erwachsener viel komplexer ist und aus einer Verkettung endlosen Graustufen besteht.
Neue musikalische Herausforderungen
Musikalisch haben Asaf Avidan & The Mojos nicht versucht, einfach an den Erfolg des Vorgängers anzuknüpfen und den Sound von „The Reckoning“ zu wiederholen. Wenngleich jeder Song von Asaf Avidan geschrieben, wurden sie in akribischer Detailarbeit zusammen mit der Band arrangiert, um die Essenz der Ursprungsidee möglichst exakt heraus zu arbeiten. Mit dem Erfolg der letzten Jahre, den vielen Wochen, die man auf Tour zusammen verbrachte, ist die Band regelrecht zu einer Familie zusammengewachsen. „Hadas, Yoni, Roi and Ran sind Haut, Muskeln und Venen des Körpers meiner Musik“, sagt Asaf über seine Mojos. „Ohne sie, wäre der größte Teil von dem, der ich heute bin, nicht möglich gewesen.“ Somit zollt „Poor Boy / Lucky Man“ auch den einzelnen Musikern Tribut, die jeweils ihre ganz eigene Sensibilität und Instrument zur Gesamtheit des Albums beitrugen.
Wo ihre angestammten Instrumente nicht ausreichten, kamen ganz einfach neue zum Einsatz. So vergrößerte sich nach und nach das Instrumentarium der Band, vom Xylophon über Mandoline, bis hin zur Melodica und Harfe - keine Idee blieb unversucht. Hadas Kleinman übernimmt dabei mit ihrem zauberhaften Cello einen kongenialen Melodiepart, in dem man sich wunderschön selbst verlieren kann.
Musikalisch facettenreich spannt das Quintett den Bogen von Old School Blues, Folk und Rock'n'Roll bis Indie-Rock und Americana. Verlieren sich gleichermaßen in 70er Romantik, gepaart mit klassischen Elementen und ausgelassener Zirkusmusik, wie sie sphärischen Rockklängen und verträumten Balladen Platz einräumen. Bei „The Ghost of a Thousand Little Lies“ wagen sie sogar einen Ausflug in Richtung Jazz um den Hörer anschließend mit straightem Rock von Stuhl zu reißen. Erneut besticht Asaf Avidan nicht nur mit seiner Falsettstimme, sondern durch spannendes Songwriting mit Überraschungsmomenten und viel Tiefe.
Wenngleich durch den kommerziellen Erfolg des Albums „The Reckoning” das Independent-Label der Band, in der Lage war, für die Produktion von „Poor Boy / Lucky Man“ wesentlich bessere und vielseitigere Aufnahme-Möglichkeiten auszuprobieren, entschied man sich für die Produktion am gleichen Ort (den Ogen-Studios, in einem Kibbutz nördlich von Tel Aviv) mit der gleichen Crew. Die Produktion des Albums teilten sich einmal mehr Ori Winokur, der neben seiner Arbeit als Produzent auch mit seiner eigenen Band Coolooloosh arbeitet, und Asaf Avidan. Zum Mastern wählte man jedoch die legendären „Abbey Road Studios“ in London und Steve Rook (Teenage Fanclub, Beatles Re-mastering, Ultravox, Killing Joke).
Perspektiven Mit dem Albumtitel „Poor Boy/Lucky Man“ unterstreicht Avidan, dass er es dem Betrachter überlassen will, wie er die Realität individuell wahrnimmt und Situationen unterschiedlich bewertet. So wie das Gute und das Schlechte nicht fern voneinander sind und im Auge des Betrachters liegen, erschien das Album in einer zweifachen Ausgabe, mit zwei unterschiedlichen Covern und Titeln. „Das Publikum soll entscheiden, ob die Person, über die das Album berichtet, ihrer Meinung nach ein ‚Poor Boy' oder ein ‚Lucky Man' ist“, sagt Asaf.
Bei Asaf Avidan ist alles eine Frage der Haltung. Gestern Nacht zum Beispiel, bei einem Konzert in Jerusalem, zerschlug er seine akustische Gitarre. Nicht als geplanter Teil der Bühnenshow, sondern aus Wut. Das Ding hatte ihm schon länger Ärger gemacht, gestern lief das Fass über. Wie in einer Beziehung sei das, sagt Avidan - dass es zu Ende ist, weißt du schon, bevor es zu Ende ist.
Leidenschaft, rückhaltlose Energie, Kompromisslosigkeit - das sind Charaktereigenschaften, die für Asaf Avidan und seine Band, the Mojos, heilige Regeln sind. „Wir sind Nonkonformisten. Es geht uns um unsere Kunst und unsere Überzeugungen“, sagt Asaf, „Erfolg war nie das Ziel. Er ist nur ein Werkzeug, mit dessen Hilfe wir tun können, was wir wollen.“
Ein Blick in die Karriere des Quintetts aus Jerusalem offenbart, was Asaf damit meint. Gemeinsam mit den Mojos baute er in seinem Heimatland eine Karriere auf und entwickelte sich in relativ kurzer Zeit zu einem nationalen Phänomen. Ohne Plattenfirma, ohne Medien, ohne Booking-Agenturen. Erst als die großen Hallen des Landes voll waren, begriffen die Redakteure und A&Rs des Landes ihr Versäumnis - und rollten den roten Teppich aus. Es folgten Nominierungen für die MTV European Music Awards, Tourneen z. B. mit Morrissey, überschwängliche Lobeshymnen seitens der Fachleute. Die internationale Presse stand Schlange, sah in Asaf einen Botschafter seiner Generation.
Jetzt endlich der internationale Release von „The Reckoning“ - jenem Album, das daheim die Euphorie auslöste. Eine einzigartige Mischung aus 60s-Songwriter-Folk, Blues und Indie-Rock ist darauf. Asaf Avidan & the Mojos beschwören mit junger Kraft den Geist von John Lee Hooker und erinnern manchmal an die frühen Led Zeppelin, manchmal an Janis Joplin. Letzteres hat mit Asafs ungewöhnlich hoher Stimme zu tun, in der eine ungeheure Dramatik liegt. Asaf schreit und wütet, fleht und flüstert und geht mit seiner Stimme hoch hinaus, um sich Luft zu machen. Die Mojos verleihen dieser Stimme Nachdruck, explodieren in intensiven Jams, halten sich aber auch des Öfteren ganz raus, um Asaf und seiner akustischen Gitarre den nötigen Raum zu geben.
Trotz des Rückgriffs auf die großen Alten ist "The Reckoning" eine ganz moderne Platte, in der auf einzigartige Weise auf den Punkt kommt, was man von Indie-Rock will - Intensität, Eigenwille, Unbeirrbarkeit, kreative Kraft. Hören Sie sich mal um: Niemand sonst klingt wie diese Band. „Es ist in Israel immer noch tabu, in englischer Sprache zu singen“, sagt Asaf, „natürlich hört man hier Britney Spears und Bruce Springsteen, aber die eigenen Landsleute sollen bitte hebräisch singen. Auch deshalb wollten die Medien zuerst nichts von uns wissen. Die Menschen haben viel schneller begriffen, um was es uns geht, und sie kamen zu den Konzerten - immer wieder und immer mehr.“
Apropos hebräisch: Dass Asaf und die Mojos aus Israel kommen, tut nichts zur Sache. "Ich bin weder stolz darauf, noch schäme ich mich dafür", sagt Asaf, "ich bin zufällig Israeli, so wie Augen zufällig blau sind. Wir trinken aus dem kulturellen Brunnen unserer Historie, aber unsere Musik ist universell - man kann sie in Dubai oder New York genauso gut verstehen wie in Tel Aviv. Ich schreibe über Beziehungen, über die Liebe, den Tod und darüber, wie seltsam unser kurzer Aufenthalt in dieser Welt ist. Man braucht keinen bestimmten Pass, um das zu verstehen."
kosmopolitische Selbstverständnis hat etwas mit Asafs Geschichte zu tun. Beide Eltern sind Diplomaten und verbrachten die siebziger Jahre in New York City. Asaf, Jahrgang 1980, wurde in Jerusalem geboren, wuchs aber bis 1991 in Jamaica auf. Die Eltern waren das Leben im Westen gewohnt, hatten jene Plattensammlung, die sich nun in der Musik ihres Sprösslings widerspiegelt. Mit 18 dann die Armee: Asaf litt unter der dem Drill und griff zur Gitarre, um das Leid zu mildern. "Singen ist für mich etwas sehr Therapeutisches. Um die Dinge loszuwerden, muss ich schreien, laut sein. Ich weiß, dass meine Stimme ungewöhnlich ist. Ich liebe es, wenn die Leute mich erst überhaupt nicht beachten - erst, wenn ich den Mund aufmache, werden sie still. Die Blicke, die ich dann kriege... da passiert etwas Seltsames, Faszinierendes.“
Bevor Asaf sich auf die Bühne stellte, hatte er bereits eine andere Karriere. Nach einem Film-Studium in Tel Aviv und Jerusalem wurde er schnell zum gefragten Spezialisten für Animation, Asafs Werke wurden auf Festivals herumgereicht, es hagelte Preise. Doch Asaf hatte bald genug vom Film und schmiss die Karriere hin. Die EP „Now That You’re Leaving“ entstand 2006 in einem kreativen Anfall, allein in einem Apartment in Jerusalem. Die ersten Konzerte führten schnell zu großem Interesse, Asaf spielte sich durch die Clubs und brachte schließlich die Mojos zusammen. Eine eingeschworene Gemeinschaft ist das, die das Publikum live mit hinein nimmt in ihre intensive, dramatische, hingebungsvolle Welt.
Man erlebt diese Welt auf „The Reckoning“. Da stehen fünf Musiker in einem Raum, die kämpfen und glauben und um jeden Preis etwas Schönes, Wahrhaftiges erschaffen wollen. „Eine gute Platte erwächst aus dem Leben“, sagt Asaf und beschwört dann noch mal das alte Blues-Ideal, „kann sein, dass da nur ein Mann steht und in seine Hände klatscht - wenn es von Herzen kommt und er es selbst glaubt, dann ist es genug.“
Den "neuen Messias" nennt der mexikanische Rolling Stone den israelischen Musiker Asaf Avidan. Seine Jünger wären dann wohl The Mojos, das musikalische Anhängsel des Mannes aus dem Nahen Osten.
Mit dem ihm verliehenen Titel hat der Folkrocker jedenfalls die Geburtsregion gemeinsam: Asaf Avidan kommt 1980 in Jerusalem zur Welt. Früh macht sich die künstlerische Ader bemerkbar. Er besucht die Kunstschule, studiert Film und Animation und arbeitet als Synchronsprecher.
Doch bald entschließt er sich den Schwerpunkt auf eine weitere Leidenschaft zu legen: seine musikalische Laufbahn, er spielt allerlei Konzerte in Israel und veröffentlicht 2006 eigenständig die EP "Now That You're Leaving". Später stoßen The Mojos dazu, gemeinsam bringen sie 2008 das Debütalbum "The Reckoning" auf den Markt, das 2010 auch in Deutschland erscheint. 2009 (Israel)/2011 (Deutschland) ercheint das zweite Werk "Poor Boy/Lucky Man"
und Sänger Avidan bezeichnet seine Mojos - Ran Nir (Bass), Yoni "Joni Snow" Sheleg (Drums), Roi Peled (Gitarre) und Hadas Kleinman (Cello) als "Haut, Muskeln und Venen des Körpers seiner Musik". Doch bei der anatomischen Beschreibung bleibt es auf seiner MySpace-Page nicht: "kreative, talentierte, einzigartige Musiker, die auch meine Freunde sind."
So herzerwärmend die Worte: Die Musik des Quintetts zwischen 60er-Folk, Indierock und Blues klingt kein Stück schmalzig. Avidans außergewöhnliche sirenenartige, zuweilen androgyne Stimme bleibt neben dem Irokesenschnitt sein Erkennungsmerkmal.

Career

But also the deaf valley festival, the West German Radio rock palace, the Paleo festival, the New York Carnegie sound or the biggest festival of China stood on the tour plan the volume. Morrissey chose Asaf Avidan as special guest for his Israel concert in summer, 2008, because also he was impressed of the musical qualities of the singer.
„Poor bell-boy / Lucky Man“
While the songs on Asafs solo debut EP "Now That You're Leaving" (2006) had still had quite unmistakably the end of a love relationship on the subject and describes this time the first work with The Mojos, a life phase with various cases of lovesickness, tried Asaf to become acquainted better. „The whole draught of „Poor bell-boy / Lucky Man“ is the representation of an emotionally subnormal person by different characters which they symbolise“, says Avidan about the album appeared already in the end of 2009 in Israel. Thus we meet, a clown, the devil and a mind. Avidan whose songs always turn his core outwardly fathoms on the new album that person who is so foreign to him as usual nobody: He himself. „The woman, the mountain, I, the lover - this are of all different facets of my personality” says Avidan.„ I is a small word for a big thing. On English there is luckily no gender, like in the Hebrew or into German, so I often talk from different perspectives with myself.” Metaphors allow to the listener quite different and own interpretations - the pictures which are underlined musically create. „I can say, I have hard time and you will understand this. New musical challenges
Musically Asaf Avidan & The Mojos have not tried to go back simply to the success of the predecessor and to repeat the sound of "The Reckoning". Although every song of Asaf Avidan having written, they were arranged in meticulous detailed work together with the volume to work the essence of the origin idea very precisely out. With the success of the last years, many weeks which one spent on tour together the tape has properly grown together to a family. „Hadas, Yoni, Roi and Come on are a skin, muscles and veins of the body of my music“, says Asaf about his Mojos. „Without them, the biggest part would not have been possible by that whom I am today.“ Therefore Lucky Man“ gives „Poor bell-boy / also to the single musicians tribute who contributed in each case her quite own sensitivity and instrument to the totality of the album.
Where her hereditary instruments were not sufficient, quite simply new ones were used. Thus the instruments the volume, from the xylophone grew bit by bit over mandolin, up to the Melodica and harp - no idea remained untried. Besides, Hadas Kleinman takes over with her enchanting cello a sympathetic melody part in which one can lose himself wonderfully.
Musically many-faceted the quintet stretches the curve of Old School blues, folk and rock'n'roll to Indie rock and Americana. In "The Ghost of a Thousand Little Lies" they dare even to tear an excursion in the direction of jazz around the listener afterwards with straightem rock of chair. Once more fascinates Asaf Avidan not only with his falsetto voice, but by exciting Songwriting with surprise moments and a lot of depth.
Although by the commercial success of the album "The Reckoning" the independent label the volume, was able to try out bell-boy / Lucky Man“ substantially better and more many-sided admission possibilities for the production of „Poor, one decided on the production at the same place (the Ogen studios, in a Kibbutz to the north of Tel Aviv) with the same crew. The production of the album divided once more Ori Winokur which works beside his work as a producer also with his own volume Coolooloosh, and Asaf Avidan. One chose the Mastern, nevertheless, legendary "Abbey Road Studios" in London and Steve Rook (Teenage fan club, the Beatles Re-mast's ring, Ultravox, Killing Joke).
Avidan underlines two perspectives with the album title „Poor of bell-boy / Lucky Man“ that he wants to leave it to the viewer as he perceives the reality individually and values situations differently. As well as the good and the bad are not far of each other and lie in the eye of the viewer, the album appeared in a double issue, with two different Covern and titles. „The audience should decide whether the person about whom the album reports is in her opinion one‚ Poor bell-boy' or one‚ Lucky Man'“, says Asaf.
Asaf Avidan is of all one question of the position. Yesterday night, for example, with a concert in Jerusalem, he smashed his acoustic guitar. Not as a planned part of the stage show, but from fury. The thing had caused to him long since trouble, yesterday the barrel ran over. As in a respect this is, Avidan says - that it is to an end, you already know, before it is to an end.
Passion, back-disoriented energy, Kompromisslosigkeit - this are traits which are for Asaf Avidan and his tape, the Mojos, holy rules. „We are nonconformists. It is for us about our art and our convictions“, says Asaf, „success never was the aim. It is only one tools with whose help we can act what we want.“
A look in the career of the quintet from Jerusalem reveals what means Asaf with it. Together with the Mojos he built up in his homeland a career and developed in relatively short time to a national phenomenon. Without record company, without media, without Booking agencies. Only when the big halls of the country were full, the editors and A&Rs of the country understood her omission - and rolled out the red carpet. Nominations followed for the MTV European Music Awards, Tourneen, e.g., with Morrissey, überschwängliche praise hymns on the part of the experts. The international press stood queue, saw an ambassador of his generation in Asaf.
Now, finally, of the international release of "The Reckoning" - to that album which released at home the euphoria. A unique mixture of 60s-Songwriter-Folk, blues and Indie rock is on it. Asaf Avidan & the Mojos swear to the mind of John Lee Hooker with young strength and sometimes remind of the early Led zeppelin, sometimes in Janis Joplin. The latter deals with Asafs of unusually high voice in which an immense drama lies. Asaf shouts and rages, begs and whispers and goes out with his voice high to give vent to itself. The Mojos lend stress to this voice, explode in intensive Jams, however, keep out also of the more often completely to give the necessary space to Asaf and his acoustic guitar.
In spite of the resort on the big old people "The Reckoning" is quite a modern record to which in unique manner on the point comes what one wants of Indie rock - intensity, self-will, Unbeirrbarkeit, creative strength. Ask around sometimes: Otherwise, nobody sounds like this tape. „It is still taboo in Israel to sing into English language“, says Asaf, „here of course one hears Britney Spears and Bruce Springsteen, but own compatriots should sing please Hebrew. The people have understood much faster about what it is for us, and they came to the concerts - over and over again and more and more.“

We drink from the cultural well of our history, but our music is universal - one can understand them in Dubai or New York as well like in Tel Aviv. I write about relations, about the love, the death and as strange our short stay is in this world. One needs no certain passport to understand."
The cosmopolitan self-image deals something with Asafs history. Both parents are diplomats and spent the seventies years in New York city. Asaf, year in 1980, was born in Jerusalem, however, grew up till 1991 in Jamaica. The parents were used to the life in the west, had that record collection which is reflected now in the music of her sprig. "I loved beginning of the nineties nirvana, sound guards and Pearl Jam - and found in the cupboard of my parents the origins of this music. You hear zeppelin, Hendrix, Joplin. And then you further decrease and find Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and Billie Holiday. All that hangs together."
With 18 then the army: Asaf suffered under to the drill and reached to the guitar to reduce the grief. "Sing is for me a little bit very much therapeutic. To get rid of the things, I must shout, be according to. I know that my voice is unusual. I love it if the people do not follow me only at all - when I open mouth, they become quiet. Before Asaf positioned itself on the stage, he already had another career. After a film study in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem he became quick to the asked specialist for animation, Asafs works were handed round at festivals, it hailed prices. However, Asaf soon had enough of the film and chucked the career. EP "Now That You're Leaving" originated in 2006 in a creative attack, only in a flatlet in Jerusalem. The first concerts led fast to big interest, Asaf played itself by the clubs and brought together, finally, the Mojos. This is a confirmed community, the audience live with in takes in her intensive, dramatic, devoted world.
One experiences this world on "The Reckoning". There five musicians stand in a space which fight and believe and want to create at all costs something beauty, true. „A good record arises from the life“, says Asaf and then swears once more to the old blues ideal, „can be that there only one man stands and claps in his hands - if it comes sincerely and he believes it himself, then it is enough.“
The "new Messiah" calls the Mexican Rolling Stone the Israeli musician Asaf Avidan. Then his disciples would probably be The Mojos, the musical appendage of the man from the Middle East.
With the title conferred to him the folk rocker has in common, in any case, the natal region: Asaf Avidan comes into the world in 1980 in Jerusalem. Early the artistic vein becomes apparent. He visits the art school, studies film and animation and works as a synchronous speaker.
