While continuing his studies at the Bucharest Conservatory, Edward Maya began writing songs, one of which became an entry in the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest, and collaborating with a number of Romania's leading producers, earning credits on different recordings. He become a successful producer in his own right with the work he put in the making of the romanian band Akcent album "No Tears" , which scored a number of hits in Europe like "Stay with Me", " That's My Name" and "Lover's Cry".
Although he's only been in the public eye only since 2009, he crammed at least a decade's worth of career highs and lows into those few short, high-profile years. He came to prominence grace to his new and unique touch to the house music scene with the unmistakable accordion sounds that made him a global figure in clubs all over the world in only one year after the release of his first single as an artist in the summer of 2009 called "Stereo Love" featuring Russian DJ Vika Jigulina. The single entered the top 5 singles charts in Austria, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and The Sultanate of Oman and it was certified platinum in Canada, Denmark, Germany,Switzerland and double platinum in Spain.
After accumulating over 115 million views on Youtube and making Edward Maya the first Romanian featured in the Top 20 Billboard Hot 100 as the single peaked at number 17, reaching the number one Dance Airplay single of 2010 in Billboard's Year End issue and the longest charting in the history of the European Top Hot 100 with a total of 52 weeks spent on charts it was time for "Stereo Love" to claim another milestone as the
finalists for the 2011 Billboard Music Award were announced featuring Edward Maya besides Lady Gaga, Yolanda Be Cool & D Cup and La Roux in the Top Dance Song category as the only romanian song in the competition.
It has also topped the Billboard Dance/Club Play at number 1 and became very popular in cities like New York City reaching #1 at various radio stations.
In May 2010, Edward Maya released his follow-up single, "This Is My Life" featuring vocals from Vika Jigulina that quickly became an international hit being featured in the Romanian Top 100 and the European Hot 100 Singles charts and
racking up almost 40 million views on YouTube as a result of the tremendous number of shows Edward Maya had in his "This Is My Life Tour" in countries like Brazil, Senegal, Dubai, Albania, India and many other where the Romanian music was still unknown.
In recent years, Edward Maya's focus has shifted over many things, as the former music producer in now the proud owner of his own company “Mayavin Company” which includes a record label "Mayavin Records".
His contributions to the Romanian music industry have gained him numerous achievements, Edward Maya's lifelong devotion to music serving him well as he continues to improve his work and musical style with the release of his third single "Desert Rain" featuring Vika Jigulina on Christmas night worldwide, being his first single as an independent artist released under his own record label "Mayavin Records". The single spawned 8 million views on YouTube in only few months after release and reached number 1 in various radio stations charts all over the world.
After the release of his third single Edward Maya announced the start of his "Desert Rain Tour" in January 2011 reaching an audience of over 150.000 people around the world and with sold out concerts in countries like USA, Ecuador, Venezuela, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Ukraine, India, Pakistan, The United Arab Emirates and many more. Standing at the heart of his touring is Edward Maya's live act "The Stereo Love Show" starring him as a performer, DJ and accordionist along with his back-up guitarist and keyboardist vibrating to an award-winning mix of ancient romanian music and distinctive electronic beats.
In the spring of 2011 Edward Maya launched the "Searching For Talents" campaign in collaboration with his record label Mayavin Records giving fans all over the world the chance to win an official record deal. 2012 saw the start of two new projects, Violet Light and Mayavin Show. Love Story, the main song of Violet Light Project, got more then 10 million views on YouTube shortly after being released. Love Story, is a song about the inner openness and willingness needed to transform in order to step on the paths of love. The other songs, Back Home, Next Door, and Nostalgy, that all contain sounds derived from traditional Romanian inspiration were also well received by the public. Together with the artists produced by Mayavin Records, Edward started Mayavin Show Project in the midst of 2012 with Friends Forever as the first single. Eduard Marian Ilie (29 June 1986, Bucharest, Romania), also known as Edward Maya, is a producer, performer, composer and musician from Romania. He graduated from George Enescu Music High School in Bucharest and is currently a final year student at the Bucharest Conservatory.
At 19 years of age he composed a song with Eduard Carcota for the Eurovision Song Contest, which went to fourth place in the competition (Mihai Traistariu - Tornero). This breakthrough was followed by a busy period for the artist, who worked on different contracts with Romanian artists abroad (Akcent, Costi Ioniţă, Vika Jigulina, Cassa Loco, Studio One, DjRynno, Dj Sava, Marius Nedelcu, Blaxy Girls, Imba).
In 2008 he produced the album that helped relaunch the band Akcent, appearing on the international music market with hits like “Stay with Me”, “That’s my Name” and “Lover’s Cry”, all under the Edward Maya brand.
In the summer of 2009, Maya launched his first song as an artist, “Stereo Love”, topping number 2 in the Romanian singles charts. Later that year, “Stereo Love”, became a hit in clubbing places all over the world. This success was followed by concerts worldwide, with the song reaching the pop charts Greece, Albania, Lebanon, Jordan,F.Y.R.O.M, Azerbaijan, Portugal, Russia, Poland, the Netherlands, Egypt, Belgium, Spain, Italy,Turkey, Cyprus, France etc.

Im Jahre 2006 schrieb er für Mihai Trăistariu den Titel "Tornero" mit dem dieser den rumänischen Vorentscheid zum Eurovision Song Contest gewinnen und beim eigentlichen Wettbewerb dann überraschend bis auf die vierte Position vorrücken konnte. In der Folge war Edward Maya für viele andere rumänische Künstler als Produzent oder Komponist tätig, dazu gehörten unter anderem Costi Ioniţă, Akcent, Marius Nedelcu, Blaxy Girls.
Am 19.10.2009 erschien schließlich die eigene Debütsingle "Stereo Love". Diese ging steil nach oben in den rumänischen Charts und landete in der Folge sogar auf der zweiten Position. Nachdem der Titel Maya in den europäischen Clubs und Diskotheken bekannt gemacht hatte, schaffte Edward damit auch in vielen anderen Ländern den Sprung in die offiziellen Charts. In der Tschechischen Republik, in Finnland, Frankreich, Ungarn, Norwegen, Spanien, Schweden, den Niederlanden und auch einigen anderen Ländern standen Spitzenplatzierungen zu Buche. In Deutschland erreichte die Single als beste Poition "lediglich" den vierten Platz.
Es folgten weltweite Auftritte für den rumänischen Musiker. Auf Youtube erreichte Edward Maya mit "Stereo Love" über 60 Millionen Blickkontakte. In Belgien erreichte die Single Gold- und in der Schweiz sogar Platin-Status. Dank der eingängigen Melodie und dem Einsatz ungewöhnlicher Intruemente wie Akkordeon oder Bouzouki schaffte der Titel es, sich ins Gedächtnis vieler Leute zu brennen und stürmte weltweit die Dance-Charts.

Vika Jigulina is a music producer, a DJ...she is vocal and even artist. Well, Vika got famous for it's recently album with Edward Maya called Stereo Love, in a music with the same name of the album that was the first solo from Edward Maya.
Stereo Love made Vika Jigulina famous and worldwide known. Many people use to ask why? Well the question would be the same if we ask: "Why did Stereo Love became famous?". Mainly we can point the quality of the music and the experience of Edward Maya. The year 2009 brought a surprise on the musical market in Romania, these were the first songs on which Edward Maya was the producer and artist, Stereo Love, fast becoming some real hits in the world club sites. Vika Jigulina as vocalist added a lot of quality to the music with her nice voice, soft and intense at the same time.
Stereo Love became famous and Vika Jigulina too. But who's Vika besides vocalist?
Vika Jigulina born in Moscow and graduated in the "Rahmaninov”, a school of music.She started studying in 2000 in Timisoara.
Vika had an huge experience in mixing in several local clubs after her studis. Then, she went to Discoland, Timisiora. She used to appear in several parties, discos, etc in Romania and to too many solicitant roads she decided to move to Bucharest.
Right now she is a weekly presence at radio DEEA, who allowed Vika to become popular at national levels. Her popularity increased with her weekly show at radio VIBE FM.
