Karriere
Anna-Maria Zimmermann wurde von ihrer Mutter im Alter von fünf Jahren mit einem Video bei der Mini Playback Show angemeldet, wo sie einen Auftritt als Stefanie Hertel mit dem Lied "Oma, du verstehst mich nicht" hatte. Später nahm sie Gesangsunterricht. Des Weiteren spielt sie Keyboard, Klavier und Flöte. Anna-Maria Zimmermann ist das jüngste von drei Kindern.
Deutschland sucht den Superstar
Im Herbst 2005 nahm Anna- Maria Zimmermann an den Castings für die Talentshow Deutschland sucht den Superstar des deutschen Fernsehsenders RTL teil. Im Lauf der Show gelangte sie bis unter die letzten sechs Kandidaten.
Nach Deutschland sucht den Superstar
Im Oktober 2007 veröffentlichte Zimmermann ihre Debütsingle "Der erste Kuss" mit der Band Jojos. 2008 unterschrieb sie ihren ersten Plattenvertrag bei Universal Music, woraufhin eine zweite Single mit dem Titel "Wer ist dieser DJ?" auf den Markt kam, die im September 2008 Platz 66 der deutschen Charts erreichte.
2009 unterschrieb sie ihren zweiten Plattenvertrag bei EMI. Am 17. Juli 2009 erschien die dritte Single "1000 Träume weit"(Tornerò). Am 8. Januar 2010 veröffentlichte sie zudem die Single "Hurra wir leben noch", ein Cover des gleichnamigen Titels von Milva aus dem Jahr 1983.
Zimmermanns erstes Studioalbum "Einfach Anna!" erschien am 10. Dezember 2010. Vorab wurde am 23. Juli 2010 die Single "Frei sein" ausgekoppelt.
Seit 2008 tritt sie regelmäßig auf Mallorca in der Diskothek "Bierkönig" 
auf und ist zudem regelmäßig als Sängerin überwiegend in Schlagersendungen des deutschen Fernsehens zu sehen.
Unfall im Oktober 2010
Am 24. Oktober 2010 war Zimmermann zusammen mit ihrem Manager und einem Assistenten in einem Helikopter vom Typ Robinson R44 der Firma Heli-Life International zu einem Auftritt in einer Diskothek unterwegs, wo ihr der Ballermann Award 2010 verliehen werden sollte. Während der
Landung in Altenbeken stürzte der Helikopter aus etwa zehn Meter Höhe über einer Straße ab, wodurch Zimmermann lebensgefährliche innere Verletzungen und zahlreiche Knochenbrüche erlitt. Sie musste mehrfach operiert werden.
Das Wrack des Hubschraubers wurde noch am Unglückstag von der Bundesstelle für Flugunfalluntersuchung in Braunschweig beschlagnahmt. Die Staatsanwaltschaft Paderborn ermittelte gegen den Piloten, ob ein Verdacht der fahrlässigen Körperverletzung vorliege, das Gutachten sagte aus, dass es durch einen fliegerischen Fehler seitens des Pilotens zum Absturz kam und deshalb eine Anklage wegen fahrlässiger Körperverletzung wahrscheinlich sei. Allerdings gab es bereits vor einigen Jahren ähnliche Abstürze von Hubschraubern desselben Modells, weshalb die Überlegung im Raum stand, den Flugbetrieb dieses Hubschraubertyps per Verfügung einzustellen. Laut Zeugenaussagen soll der Helikopter im Landeanflug mit dem Heckrotor einen Baumwipfel berührt haben.
Der Presse zufolge plant Anna-Maria Zimmermann für Juni 2011 ihr Bühnencomeback.
Sie hat einen Namen, der so lang ist wie ihr Körper. Anna-Maria Zimmermann ist mit einer Größe von 180 Zentimetern eine beeindruckende Erscheinung. Aber sie ist nicht nur nicht zu übersehen, sie ist auch nicht zu überhören. Die 19-Jährige aus Rietberg überzeugt mit ihrer Stimme. Sie hat es bei "Deutschland sucht den Superstar" bis in die fünfte Motto-Show geschafft. Bei diesem harten Casting will das schon etwas heißen. Wenn man sich mit ihr unterhält, lässt sie gerne ihr schulterlanges hellbraunes Haar fliegen. Und sie kokettiert gern. Jedes Gespräch mit ihr ist wie ein Traum. Man darf ihr dabei nicht in die blaugrünen Augen schauen. Sonst ist man verloren. Die Schützin, geboren am 14.12.1988, mit dem Berufswunsch Kinderarzthelferin liebt das Tanzen und das Singen. Das ihr Leben. Bei DSDS hat sie das schon bewiesen und ist von Dieter Bohlen außergewöhnlich liebevoll Sonnenschein genannt worden. Diese Etikettierung hat ihr schon früh die Aura eines Stars verliehen. Aber sie hat später bewiesen, dass sie ganz unverhohlen durch das Leben tanzen und singen kann - und dass sie wirklich ein Star ist und kein Sternchen. Anna-Maria Zimmermann aus Rietberg weiß, was sie kann und was sie will. Ihre Stimme gewinnt immer mehr an Ausdruckskraft. Man darf also viel von ihr erwarten. Aber sie hat noch mehr drauf: Sie kann Keyboard, Klavier und Flöte spielen. Diese Vielseitigkeit, ihre Ausstrahlung und ihr Körper machen sie interessant. Aber Vorsicht: Anna-Maria Zimmermann ist, wie schon erwähnt, Schützin. Wenn sie angelegt hat, ist es schon passiert. Gefürchtet sind ihre Disko-Auftritte.
Nicht lange, dann ist die Hölle los, wenn sie fragt: "Wer ist dieser DJ?"
Ihr Lächeln ist das eines Engels, ihr Name klingt überaus keusch und bieder, aber in ihren Augen funkeln Frechheit und die Lust daran, sich vor einem großen Publikum zu präsentieren, gern auch in figurbetonten Klamotten. Dabei ist sie keine Erotikdarstellerin, sondern eine überaus talentierte Sängerin. Die Rede ist von Anna-Maria Zimmermann, der 1988 in Gütersloh geborenen Sängerin, die im Jahre 2006 an der dritten Staffel von “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” teilnahm, diese zwar nicht gewann, aber unter die letzten 6 Kandidaten kam. Die Show zu gewinnen, war für Anna-Maria Zimmermann aber ganz offensichtlich nicht nötig, denn sie kann sich auch heute noch, ein halbes Jahrzehnt danach, über einen Mangel an Auftritten und Engagements nicht beklagen. (Ganz im Gegenteil, im Jahr 2012 erscheint ihr neues, zweites Album und sie tourt durch mehrere Clubs in Deutschland damit.)
Wer Anna-Maria Zimmermann jedoch auf ein Retortenprodukt der Bohlen-Show reduzieren will, tut ihr mehr als unrecht. “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” war nur der Katalysator für ihre Karriere als Sängerin. Geschafft hätte sie es auch ohne. Denn Anna-Maria Zimmermann liegt das Singen im Blut. Bereits im Alter von fünf Jahren nahm sie an der damals sehr populären TV-Show “Die Mini Playback Show” teil. Ihre Karriere danach war eine Abfolge von kleinen Schritten. Sie nahm Gesangsunterricht und lernte Keyboard, Klavier und Flöte spielen. Damit ist Anna-Maria Zimmermann eine echte Musikerin, die ihr Handwerk versteht.
Es war also nur konsequent, dass sie die Aufmerksamkeit durch ihre Auftritte bei “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” nutzte, um im Herbst 2007 ihre Debütsingle zu veröffentlichen. Sie trug den Titel “Der erste Kuss” und entstand mit der Band Jojos. Es dauerte nicht lange, bis sie im Jahr 2008 ihren ersten Plattenvertrag bei Universal Music unterschrieb. Die zweite Single hieß “Wer ist dieser DJ?” und erreichte in den deutschen Charts Platz 66 im Herbst 2008. 2009 wechselte sie zum Musiklabel EMI und veröffentlichte ihre dritte Single im Sommer, Titel: “1000 Träume weit (Tornerò)”. (Dieser Song wurde im selben Jahr auch einer der großen Sommerhits auf Mallorca.) Im Januar 2010 folgte der Song “Hurra wir leben noch”, ein Cover des gleichnamigen Titels von Milva, der im Jahre 1983 entstand. Ihr erstes Album veröffentlichte sie nach einer Vorabveröffentlichung der Single “Frei sein” im Dezember 2010. Es nannte sich schlicht “Einfach Anna!”.
Bereits im Jahr 2008 entdeckte Anna-Maria Zimmermann die Partyinsel Mallorca für sich. Wenn das mal kein Zufall war! Schließlich war sie während “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” der Liebling von Dieter Bohlen - und dieser ist, wie alle wissen, bekennender Mallorca-Fan. Es erscheint im Rückblick also mehr wie Schicksal oder zumindest konsequent, dass Anna-Maria Zimmermann letzten Endes auch auf Malle gelandet ist. Dort dritt sie seit jenem Jahr 2008 regelmäßig im Bierkönig und Oberbayern auf und bringt mit ihren genialen Stimmungssongs die Partygäste zum Feiern.
Um ein Haar wäre ihre Karriere und - schlimmer noch - ihr Leben viel zu früh zu Ende gewesen, denn im Jahr 2010 war sie zusammen mit ihrem Manager und Assistenten bei einem Hubschrauberabsturz schwer verletzt worden und hatte ihn nur knapp überlebt. Glücklicherweise konnten die Ärzte sie retten und sie wurde wieder vollständig gesund. Dass sie hart im Nehmen ist, bewies Anna-Maria Zimmermann, indem sie zur Sommersaison 2011 bereits wieder auf der Bühne stand, frech, vital und überdreht wie eh und je.
Anna-Maria Zimmernmann wird uns hoffentlich noch lange als musikalische Bereicherung im Bierkönig auf Mallorca sowie im Oberbayern am Ballermann erhalten bleiben!
