Celine Dions Aufstieg vom vielversprechenden jungen Gesangstalent aus der franko-kanadischen Provinz zum internationalen Megastar ist eine der größten Erfolgsgeschichten des Popgeschäfts. Celine Dion war die erfolgreichste Popsängerin der 1990er Jahre und wurde 2004 als bestverkaufende weibliche Popkünstlerin der Welt mit einem „World Music Award“ ausgezeichnet. Sie hat weltweit zahlreiche Musik-Preise gewonnen, darunter mehrer Grammys, kanadische Felix- und Juno-Awards und europäische World Music Awards. Vor den Augen der Weltöffentlichkeit wurde Celine Dion vom talentierten Nachwuchstalent zum internationalen Superstar.
Celine Dion kam in Charlemagne, einer Kleinstadt fünfzig Kilometer östlich von Montreal, in der kanadischen Provinz Quebec, als jüngstes von vierzehn Kindern zur Welt. Ihre Eltern, beide Musiker, betrieben einen kleinen Musikclub und jedes Wochenende trat die Großfamilie zur Unterhaltung der begeisterten örtlichen Einwohnerschaft auf. Seit sie fünf war stand Celine mit ihren Geschwistern auf der Bühne. Mit zwölf komponierte sie zusammen mit ihrer Mutter und einem ihrer Brüder ein französisches Lied, „Ce n’était qu’un rêve“ („It Was Only a Dream“). Das Stück sollte ihr Leben für immer verändern.
Ein Demoband mit dem Song geriet in die Hände von René Angélil, einem bekannten Musikmanager. Im Januar 1981 beschloss der von der Stimme der jungen Celine tief berührte René, dass die Welt dieses Talent kennen lernen musste, verpfändete sein
Haus und finanzierte so Celines erstes Album „La Voix Du Bon Dieu”.
1982 gewann Celine die Goldmedaille beim „Yamaha World Song Festival“ in Tokio und den begehrten Preis als beste Performerin. In Frankreich wurde sie 1983 als erste Kanadierin überhaupt mit einer Goldenen Schallplatte ausgezeichnet.
In ihrer Heimatprovinz Quebec war sie schon 1988 ein Star und wurde mit mehreren Felix-Awards und Platinalben geehrt. Im selben Jahr siegte Celine Dion beim „Eurovision Song Contest“ in Dublin in Irland, wo ihren Auftritt 600 Millionen Fernsehzuschauer in Europa, den UdSSR, dem Nahen Osten, Japan und
Australien verfolgten.
Im September 1990 veröffentlichte Celine„Unison”, ihr erstes englisches Album (und das erste für Sony Music) und landete mit der US-Top-5-Single „Where Does My Heart Beat Now” einen Hit.
Celine s internationaler Durchbruch kam mit der Veröffentlichung des Titelstücks für den Soundtrack des Disney-Zeichentrickfilms „Die Schöne und das Biest“. Das Stück erreichte Platz eins der US-Charts und wurde mit dem Oscar als bester Song und mit dem Grammy als beste Pop-Performance ausgezeichnet. „Beauty and the Beast” bildete den Grundstein für Celines zweites englischsprachiges Album „Celine Dion”. Das Album enthielt vier weitere Hitsingles, „ Love Can Move Mountains “ , „Water From The Moon“, „If You Asked Me To“ und „Did You Give Enough Love“. In Kanada wurde das Album mit Sechsfach-Platin ausgezeichnet und gewann sieben Juno-Awards.
Am 17. Dezember 1994 heirateten Celine Dion und René Angélil in der Notre Dame Basilika in Montreal.
Zur selben Zeit nahm Celine Dions Karriere auch im Vereinigten Königreich Fahrt auf. „Think Twice”, eine Ballade von „The Colour Of My Love”, kam bei den britischen Fans besonders gut an. Mit einer der großartigsten Stimmen der Popmusik hat Celine Dion Sprachbarrieren überwunden. Die atemberaubende Geschwindigkeit, in der sie Alben aufnimmt, Videos dreht, tourt und in Fernsehshows auftritt, lässt vermuten, sie hätte wenig Zeit für andere Dinge. „Let’s talk About Love” , das Nachfolgealbum zu Celines Grammy-gekröntem Album, wurde in London, New York und Los Angeles aufgenommen und enthält Kooperationen mit einigen der größten Sängerinnen, Sängern, Songschreibern und Produzenten der Welt, darunter Barbra Streisand, die Bee Gees, Luciano Pavarotti, Carole King und Sir George Martin.
„Let’s Talk About Love” erschien am selben Tag wie der Soundtrack zum James-Cameron-Film Titanic. Beide Alben enthielten das Stück „My Heart Will Go On”, das von James Horner geschrieben und von James Horner und Walter Afanasieff produziert wurde.
„Let’s Talk About Love” gelang es, an den kaum noch zu übertreffenden Erfolg des Vorgängers anzuknüpfen. Auch der „Titanic“-Soundtrack verkaufte sich weltweit mehr als dreißig Millionen mal und wurde zum kommerziell erfolgreichsten Soundtrackalbum der Musikgeschichte. Celine sang „My Heart Will Go On” bei der 70. Oscar-Verleihung und das Stück errang den Oscar als bester Filmsong. Es war nach „Beauty and the Beast” der zweite Oscar für ein von Celine Dion gesungenes Lied. „My Heart Will Go On” brachte ihr außerdem zwei weitere Grammys ein, einmal in der Kategorie „Best Female Pop Vocal Performance” und als Krönung den begehrten Titel „Record Of The Year”.
Ein neues französischsprachiges Album mit dem Titel „S’il Suffisait D’aimer“ , das im Februar 1998 aufgenommen wurde, erschien weltweit am 8. September 1998. Die erste Single „Zola Sourit” wurde zum Radiohit.
Celine s nächstes Album, „These Are Special Times” enthielt sechzehn stimmungsvolle Weihnachtsstücke, darunter Popklassiker wie „Blue Christmas” und „The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire)” und traditionelle Lieder wie „O Holy Night” und „Adeste Fidelis (O Come All Ye Faithful)”. „These Special Times” enthielt außerdem die Nummer-1-Single „I’m Your Angel”, Celines Duett mit R.Kelly, der das Stück auch geschrieben und produziert hat, den Song „These Are Special Times”, geschrieben von Diane Warren und „The Prayer”, ein Duett mit Andrea Bocelli.
1998 erschien das Buch „Celine… The Authorized Biography” . 1999 erschien „All the Way…A Decade Of Song”, Celines erstes englisches Greatest-Hits-Album inklusive der Hitsingles „The Power Of Love”, „Because You Loved Me”, „I’m Your Angel” und das mit einem Grammy und einem Oscar ausgezeichnete „My Heart Will Go On”. Das Album enthielt außerdem „Beauty And The Beast”, „It’s All Coming Back To Me Now” und „If You Asked Me To”. Sieben neue Stücke wurden exklusiv für das Album aufgenommen, darunter der Titelsong „All The Way”, ein Tribut an Frank Sinatra.

Im März 2003 startete Celine ihr dreijähriges Engagement in Las Vegas. An fünf Tagen in der Woche präsentierte sie im Colosseum des legendären Caesars Palace vor 4.000 Zuschauern die eigens für Las Vegas konzipierte, neunzigminütige Show „A New Day...“ – eine völlig neue Form des Musik-Entertainments. „A New Day…” verband die Songs des Weltstars mit Tanz- und Performance sowie hochmoderner Bühnentechnik. Die Show wurde von Dragone Productions entworfen und umgesetzt, dem Team um Franco Dragone, der zuvor der kreative Kopf hinter zehn hochgelobten „Cirque du Soleil“-Produktionen gewesen war.
Am 25. März 2003, pünktlich zum Start ihrer Show „A New Day...“, veröffentlichte Celine mit „One Heart” ein brandneues Album mit Stücken, produziert von Ric Wake, Anders Bagge, Kristian Lundin, Peer Astrom, Max Martin, Mark Taylor, Erick Benzi und Humberto Gatica. Als erste Single-Auskopplung wählte Celine ihre Version des Roy-Orbison-Klassikers „I Drove All Night“.
Am 14. Oktober 2003 veröffentlichte CelineDion mit „1 Fille & 4 Types” ihr erstes französischsprachiges Album seit fünf Jahren. Es war die Idee des künstlerische Direktors Jean-Jacques Goldman, der auch der kreative Kopf hinter „D’eux“ (1995) und „S’il Suffisait D’aimer“ (1998) gewesen war, Celine mit drei Songschreibern und Komponisten zusammenzubringen, die zu den einflussreichsten Persönlichkeiten der französischen Musikszene zählten: Jacques Veneruso, Erick Benzi und der Gitarren-Virtuose Gildas Arzel.
Der Einfluss dieser herausragenden Künstler begleitet und ergänzt Celines Darbietung auf jedem einzelnen Song des Albumsm, das von Erick Benzi unter der Anleitung von Goldman produziert wurde. „1 Fille & 4 Types“ erreichte in Kanada, Frankreich und der Schweiz aus dem Stand Platz eins der Charts. Die erste Single „Tout L’or Des Hommes“ schrieb kanadische Radiogeschichte, denn sie war die am höchsten chartende frankophone Single in Kanada.
Im folgenden Jahr, am 15. Juni 2004, veröffentlichte Celine die Live-CD „A New Day: Live in Las Vegas“, die mit „You and I“ und „Ain’t Gonna Look The Other Way“ zwei bisher unveröffentlichte Studiotracks enthielt sowie dreizehn Livetracks von Celines unglaublich erfolgreicher Las-Vegas-Show.
Für ihr nächstes Projekt tat Celine sich mit der berühmten Babyfotografin Anne Geddes zusammen. „Miracle“, das Ergebnis ihrer Zusammenarbeit, erschien im Oktober 2004. Celine und Anne entwickelten über Monate eine großartige Sammlung von Bildern und Songs, die die besondere Bindung zwischen Mutter und Kind zum Thema hatten. Das Multimedia-CD/DVD/Buch-Projekt berührte die Herzen von Menschen auf der ganzen Welt. Die „Miracle“-CD enthielt mit dem Titeltrack ein neues Stück sowie zwölf weitere Stücke, darunter liebgewonnene Klassiker wie „Beautiful Boy“ und „What A Wonderful World“. Das „Miracle“-CD/DVD-Box-Set enthielt eine 60-seitige Version des „Miracle“-Buchs sowie eine Making-of-the-CD-DVD. Das 180-seitige „Miracle“-Buch enthält die CD sowie eine „Making-of-the-book“-DVD und hielt sich sechs Wochen in der Bestseller-Liste der New York Times.
Celine s erstes französischsprachiges Best-of-Album „On Ne Change Pas“ erschien im Oktober 2005. Die hochwertige Doppel-CD enthielt Celines größte französische Hits und mit „Je Ne Vous Oublie Pas“, „Tous Les Secrets“ und „I Believe In You“ (ein Duett mit Il Divo) drei neue Stücke. „On Ne Change Pas, the DVD“ ist eine Zusammenstellung Celines schönster französischer Videoclips und enthält eine Stunde Bonusmaterial.
Im Oktober 2005 erschien auch ein einzigartiges, reich bebildertes Buch über Celines Leben. „Celine Dion: For Keeps“ bot einen intimen Einblick in Celines persönliches Leben und in ihre Karriere, angefangen bei ihrer Kindheit bis zu ihrer spektakulären Show in Vegas. Die Autorin Jenna Glatzer sprach ein Jahr lang mit Celine, ihrer Familie, engen Freunden und Wegbegleitern und entwarf dann ein detailreiches Bild ihres Lebens. Das Buch ist ein Schatzkästchen für Celine-Dion-Fans. Es enthält persönliche Dokumente aus Celines Lebens, seltene Fotos und private Erinnerungsstücke.
Wenige Monate später, am 25. Februar 2007, trat Celine bei den 79. Academy Awards im Rahmen einer Tribut-Performance zu Ehren des legendären Film-Komponisten Ennio Morricone zum fünften Mal bei einer Oscar-Zeremonie auf. Für die Tribute-CD „We All Love Ennio Morricone“ hatte sie kurz zuvor einen Song aufgenommen. Weitere an dem Album beteiligte Künstler waren Bruce Springsteen, Roger Waters, Andrea Bocelli und Yo-Yo Ma. 2007 erscheinen zwei neue Studioalben von Celine Dion. Das französischsprachige Album „D’elles“ erschien im Mai. Das Album wurde in den Palm Studios in Las Vegas im Juli 2007 in drei Wochen aufgenommen und Celine arbeitete für „Taking Chances“ mit einigen der profiliertesten Songschreiber und Produzenten der Welt zusammen: Linda Perry (Pink, Gwen Stefani, Christina Aguilera), Dave Stewart von den Eurythmics, dem Ex-Evanescence-Gitarristen Ben Moody, dem R&B/Pop-Songschreiber Ne-Yo, John Shanks (Melissa Etheridge, Kelly Clarkson), Kara DioGuardi (Pink, Kelly Clarkson, „One Heart“), Kristian Lundin (Backstreet Boys, *NSYNC), Anders Bagge and Peer Astrom (Bagge & Astrom: Take That, Janet Jackson, Jennifer Lopez, Santana, Madonna), Aldo Nova, Christopher „Tricky“ Stewart (Rihanna, Usher) und Chris Neil (Mike & the Mechanics).
Das Stück „That’s Just The Woman In Me” kannte und mochte Celine Dion schon lange (der Gitarrist Kimberley Rew hatte es vor vielen Jahren für seine damalige Band Katrina & the Waves geschrieben) und bei der Arbeit an ihrem neuen Album stellte sie fest, dass der Song perfekt zur neuen Phase ihrer künstlerischen Entwicklung passte.

In September, 1990 Celine "Unison", her first English album (and first published for Sony Music) and landed with the US-Top-5-Single „Where Dozing micron Heart beat Now” a hit.

"Let's Talk About Love" appeared on the same day like the soundtrack to the James Cameron film Titanic. Both albums contained the piece "My Heart Will Go On" which was written by James Horner and was produced by James Horner and Walter Afanasieff.
"Let's Talk About Love" one succeeded in going back to the success hardly to be excelled of the predecessor. Moreover, "These Special Times" contained Number 1 single „I'm Your of hinge”, Celines duet with R.Kelly which has also written the piece and has produced, the song „thesis ares Special Times”, written by Diane Warren and "The Prayer", a duet with Andrea Bocelli.
In 1999 "All the Way … A Decade Of Song", Celines the first English Greatest hit album appeared including the hit singles "The Power Of Love", "Because You Loved Me", „I'm Your of hinge” and with a Grammy and an Oscar excellent "My Heart Will Go On". Moreover, the album contained "Beauty And The Beast", "It's All Coming Back To Me Now" and "If You Asked Me To". Seven new pieces were taken up exclusively for the album, under it the title song "All The Way", a tribute to Frank Sinatra.
In New Year's Eve in 1999 Celine Dion in Montreal to last time appeared as public, before she took a time out to devote herself to her private life. Celines and Renés whole pride is her son René-Charles Angélil who came into the world on the 25th of January, 2001.
While Celines time out appeared in October, 2000 the album "The Collector's Series … Volume One". The influence of these prominent artists accompanies and complements Celines presentation on every single song of the Albumsm which was produced by Erick Benzi under the instructions of Goldman. „1 Fille & 4 Types“ reached in Canada, France and Switzerland from a standing position place one of the charts. The 180-sided "Miracle" book contains the CD as well as a "MAKING-OF-THE-BOOK" DVD and kept six weeks in the bestseller list of the New York Times.
Celine see the first French-speaking Best of all of-album "On Ne Change Pas" appeared in October, 2005. The high-quality double CD contained Celines the biggest French hits and with „A Vous Oublie Pas“, "Tous Les Secrets" and "I Believe In You" (a duet with Il Divo) three new pieces. "Celine Dion: For Keeps" offered an intimate insight into Celines personal life and in her career, started with her childhood up to her spectacular show in Vegas. The author Jenna Glatzer spoke during 1 year with Celine, her family, narrow friends and road companions and then sketched a detailed picture of her life. The book is a treasure small box for Celine Dion fans. It contains personal documents from Celines of life, rare photos and private souvenirs.
The huge success of Celine Dions incessantly of sold off Las Vegas show excelled all expectations and the engagement was extended by two years. On the 15th of December, 2006 Celine announced that the curtain last finally will fall in exactly one year, on the 15th of December, 2007. The piece "That's Just The Woman In Me" knew and liked Celine Dion for a long time (whom guitarist Kimberley Rew had written it many years ago for his volume Katrina at that time & the Waves) and at the work on her new album she found out that the song fitted perfectly to the new phase of her artistic development.
