After a succession of further singles - including Top 40 hits such as "Feelin' Fine" (2003), "Better than Life" (2004) and "Elysium (I Go Crazy)" (2006) - the group released their début album Ultrabeat: The Album in 2007 which reached No. 8 in the UK Albums Chart.
In 2008, the Ultrabeat released "Discolights", a collaboration with Darren Styles, which reached No. 23 in the charts. Their second album The Weekend Has Landed released in 2009 showed a departure from the sound heard on the first album and reached No. 29 in the charts.
History
2002-2003: Formation and early recordings
Prior to forming Ultrabeat, Mike Di Scala, Chris Henry and Ian Redman previously knew each other as they were all disc jockeys in Liverpool and mixed in the same circle of friends.
a common interest in late-1990s happy hardcore music, the group decided to enter Di Scala's studio for recording sessions.
, their productions were bootleg versions of old happy hardcore tracks recorded in order to improve their DJ sets.
2002 Ultrabeat produced their first remixes and the first record by the group was a double A-side 12-inch single "Sonic Burnin'"/"Boomcore" released on Di Scala's own label BCD Records in January 2003.
Before this Mike Di Scala had already experienced some success with his other group Rezonance Q, who had a hit single with "Someday", a Mariah Carey cover which reached No. 29 in the UK Sin
gles Chart in 2003. Whilst in his studio, Mike Di Scala and Rezonance Q's record label All Around the World were discussing "Someday", when he played them Ultrabeat's demo of "Pretty Green Eyes", a cover of Force & Styles. Following this, Ultrabeat were then also signed by the label.
2003-2007: Ultrabeat: The Album era
"Pretty Green Eyes" went on to be a #2 hit in August 2003. It was playlisted on most radioincluding BBC Radio 1, and was performed live on Top of the Pops. The following single was "Feelin' Fine" which charted at #12 in the UK Christmas chart of 2003. Their next release was "Better than Life", which was issued the following year and reached #23 in the chart.
The decline of their mainstream popularity came when their next single, "Feel It with Me", was released some 10 months after "Better than Life". It charted at #57 in 2005. An album (originally titled Better than Life: The Album) was expected to be released around this time, although it never materialised, and this upset many fans.
April 2006 "Elysium (I Go Crazy)" was released, and charted at #38 and put Ultrabeat back in the Top 40 after 17 months. This song, which sampled Scott Brown's "Elysium", featured Rebecca Rudd on vocals for the first time with Ultrabeat. "Elysium (I Go Crazy)" was played on TV music channels more frequently than "Feel It with Me", and became one of their most popular songs. MTV viewers voted it #1, on their 'Galaxy Chart'.
Their sixth single, "Sure Feels Good", was released in August 2007 and it was a collaboration with Darren Styles. It achieved #51 in the UK chart. It was the second single featuring Rudd and along with "Elysium (I Go Crazy)" was the second collaboration with another hardcore artist. In September 2007 the band released their album, Ultrabeat: The Album which achieved #8 in the UK Albums Chart. At that time band undertook a national tour in support og Cascada (who are also on the AATW label). Their seventh single, "I Wanna Touch You", was released on 4 February 2008.
2008-present: The Weekend Has Landed era
A new single "Discolights" was released in June 2008. In an interview about the upcoming HTID compilation album, Di Scala mentioned work on the new album. An original release date of 12 January 2009 was set for the album, but despite this, it has been leaked onto the internet on various file sharing platforms.
first single from the album was Discolights, it reached #23 in the UK Singles Chart. The second single from the album was Never Ever, It did not achieve a peak in the UK Charts. The third single was Starry Eyed Girl, which (like the majority of the album) did not achieve a peak on the UK Charts, and the fourth is Use Somebody, a cover of Kings of Leon's track from their multi-platinum album Only by the Night. The album was released on October 26, 2009 and includes 18 tracks plus a chronology DVD of all of their music videos, including Pretty Green Eyes, Feelin' Fine, The Stalker, Discolights and more.
Since the mixed reception to The Weekend Has Landed album, they have released two singles, which were "Bring It Back" and "Waiting for a Girl Like You". They have been posted on YouTube by AATW Records. Bring it Back to date has achieved nearly 400,000 views. They have received criticism for their change in direction, as they have moved to a more mainstream style.

Biografie
Ian Redman has been on the Dj circuit for over a decade now. Originally hailing from the Hardcore and Bouncy Techno scene back in the mid 90s when he was in his mid teens, but more commonly known of recent as one of the true pioneers of Scouse House. Ian was one of the original members of chart topping dance act 'Ultrabeat' who reached number 2 in the official UK Top 40 back in 2003 with internati
onal club hit 'Pretty Green Eyes'.
Back in 1995, aged 13, Ian received his first set of turntables as a gift off his cousin. With it came a huge pile of unwanted Hardcore & Jungle. This is where Ian’s obsession with dance music began. Ian spent all of his time in record shops listening to tracks and practicing his mixing at home, and after years of blagging promoters got his first gig in 1997 at an under 18s in Southport alongside school friend and fellow Dj, Rob Cain.
Ian eventually left school and went on to secure a job in underground record shop 'Plastic Records' which he soon became manager of. In this time he obtained a residency at the legendary Liverpool nightclub 'The Aquarium'. Shortly after, he was poached from 'Plastic Records' to work for '3 Beat' as the new Scouse House buyer.
It was while working at 3 Beat that Ian met Mick Di Scala and Chris Henry and together they formed Ultrabeat in late 2001. Ultrabeat went on to have numerous chart hits including 'pretty green eyes', 'feeling fine' and 'better than life'. Ultrabeat had many television appearances including 2 on 'Top of the Pops'. More recently you can find Ultrabeat smashing the UK album Charts!
Ian left 3 Beat Records in 2004 and set up First Bass Dj Academy, which was a specialist one-to-one Dj tutorial service, which ran until 2007. In this time he was approached by Juice Fm to present a radio show with Ultimate NRG star, Alex K.
you can find Ian headlining 'Bcm Planet Dance' in Magaluff. He is touring worldwide this year with 'The Bcm Reunion', 'Anthem Mania', 'Ultimate Afterparty' & 'The Big Reunion'.
Ian has also been working hard in the studio the past 12 months with some new talent and mainstream artists on new tracks, for the release of the Bcm Summer Anthems Compilation Cd, Due Summertime this year.
In late December of 2009,
The front man Erik Augustsson is a master of strong melodies and
bombastic tunes that signifies Ultrabeat´s music. He combines modern
techno/dance music with lyrics that praise and worship the Lord Jesus Christ.
"I've been a Christian as far back as I can remember, but I definitely made
a decision about it when I was 12". Now, and still in his homeland of Sweden,
Erik's taking the beauty and joy he found in his worship and translating it into
the voice of superb dance music, and becoming very successful at it.
The third album "Shine through my life" is, according to many, the
best album yet, packed with fat beats and Jesus centered songs.
Ultrabeat also got a full page feature in the christian music magazine,
CCM Magazine in 2003.
One of the biggest shows Ultrabeat has done was when they performed in
one of Sweden´s biggest arenas, "the Globe" along with Delirious, World
Wide Message Tribe, and many other top name Christian music acts.
Arguably one of the most influential DJs in modern U.K. dance music, Darren Styles has been instrumental in helping hardcore crossover into the mainstream. Born in Colchester in 1975, Styles, christened Darren Mew, was encouraged from an early age to pursue his interest in music by his father, an avid blues fan. His first taste of the underground rave scene at Oscars Night Club in Essex in 1992 instigated a love of dance music, and a year later Styles signed with legendary hardcore label Kniteforce Records, alongside friend Paul Hobbs, under the name Force & Evolution. By 1996, the pair, who'd since become Force & Styles, were touring the U.K., DJing around the world in countries such as Australia and the U.S., and holding down residencies at Slammin Vinyl, Helter Skelter, and United Dance. Due to the increasing demand for their work, Styles and Hobbs also started their own record label, U.K. Dance, and later become the first ever hardcore DJs to do a mix for Pete Tong's Essential Mix on Radio 1.
collaborating with Mark Breeze under the name Styles & Breeze for several trance tracks on the Nukleuz label, Styles then signed with the world's biggest hardcore label, RaverBaby. Styles also worked with All Around the World Records, the biggest commercial dance label in the U.K., where he co-wrote the number two Ultrabeat hit "Pretty Green Eyes" as well as penning tracks for the likes of Dannii Minogue and Kelly Llorenna. In 2005, he helped to produce the Clubland X-Treme Hardcore compilation, which went on to become the best-selling hardcore album ever, and a year later he made a clean sweep at the Hardcore Awards, winning Best DJ, Best Producer, and Best Single. In 2008, he embarked on the Clubland Live! Arena Tour with the likes of Cascada and Scooter and released his double-disc debut album, Skydivin'. Featuring the singles "Save Me," "Right by Your Side," and "Sure Feels Good," it reached number four in the U.K. album charts. ~ Jon O'Brien, Rovi
